History of Mohawk

Mohawk Finishing Products was founded in 1948 by Frank D. Pabis with just $5,000 and a vision for better wood and leather repair solutions. In 1973, Mohawk joined RPM, a growing industrial company based in Ohio. By 1980, the company employed over 200 people, with 140 of them in its original hometown of Amsterdam, New York.

After Pabis’s passing in 1981, Mohawk’s operations moved to Hudson, North Carolina in 2001. In 2024, Mohawk merged with longtime sister brand FinishWorks to offer customers even more comprehensive solutions and services.

Today, Mohawk is the leading manufacturer and distributor of professional wood and leather touch-up, repair, and finishing products, serving furniture, cabinet, and flooring professionals around the world. With a focus on durability, precision, and eco-conscious options, we deliver both high-performance products and best practices.

Based in Hickory, North Carolina, you’ll find Mohawk products through trusted distributors nationwide and/or available to order directly online.
